Midday Concerts

Sir, —When are we again to be favoured with National Orchestra midday recitals for be general public? Also why have most visiting shows discontinued Wednesday matinees? There are many country patrons, as well as city patrons, who would appreciate a return of these performances, which previously have been well patronised.—Yours. eitc., COUNTRY PATRON.

August 6, 1962. [The Director-General of Broadcasting (Mr G. H. Stringer) said: ‘‘lt is part of National Orchestra policy to present mid-day concerts whenever practicable. Opportunities are limited, however, and generally occur only when the orchestra’s full and expensive itineraries enable it to spend sufficient extra time in particular locations tor rehearsal and other purposes.”]
