Officers elected at the seventeenth annual meeting of the Christchurch Workingmen’s Bowling Club were:— President. Mr E McPherson; vice-president, Mr H A. Booth: past president, Mr L. T. Booth; secretary, Mr T. W. Hogg: treasurer, Mr L. R. Scott; auditor, Mr H. McKerrow; green superintendent, Mr L T Booth; centre delegate, Mr J J. Watson; sub-delegate. Mr T Hemingway; executive. Messrs A. C. Cain, J. Connelly, K Grant, E Purcell. N. Williams: match committee and selectors Messrs T. W. Hocg (chairman) R. Thomson, and H Varnham: mid-week selector. Mr T. Carroll; delegates to Diggers’ committee. Messrs T. Carroll, T. Hemingway; indoor committee. Messrs E. Purcell (chairman), T. NankiveU, L. Hibbard, T Carroll. J. Watson, and S Moore.
Club championship winners last season were:—
Singles, R. T. Thomson: colts. H. P. Butts; first year colts. P. Southerwood; pairs, T. Hill and R. T. Thomson; fours. H. Varnham. E. Purcell, T. Hill. R. T. Thomson.
Win To Ireland.—The Republic of Ireland beat Iceland. 4-2. after leading 2-1 at half-time in the first leg of their European Nations Cup football match at Dublin. The second leg of this opening tie will be held on September 2.—Dublin. August 13.
