LIQUOR AT AIRPORT

licence To Be Sought

Anr application for a liquor licence for the restaurant at Christchurch airport will be lodged with the Licensing Control Commission by the proprietor of the Flamingo Restaurant (Mr C S. Levy) The application will be to allow liquor to be served with meals

Mr Levy said that his wife will also apply for a liquor licence for the Flamingo Restaurant in Hereford street

Plans had been prepared for a restaurant on the first floor of the airport terminal, said Mr Levy. His plans are for the licence to cover cabaret, dancing and entertainment once the restaurant is completed. The commission's staff has already examined preliminary information on a fresh application for a licence at Christchurch airport After a hearing last September, the commission rejected the application by Mr Levy as separate accommodation for a licensed restaurant was not provided. Before his application is lodged, Mr Levy must give notice in a local newspaper of his intention The commission will then arrange for a public hearing on the application, probably’in Christchurch.

Plans showing the proposed alterations to premises will accompany the application.

An application from the restaurant proprietor of Momona airport, Dunedin, where arrangements have to be settled on accommodation, is almost complete.

The Wellington City Council last week decided that a licence should be sought to serve liquor with meals at Wellington airport.
