Buller By-Election
Sir,—Mr Tom Bryce is very much astray in attributing to me any statement that “cheap money would be made available by a National Government for the purchase of older homes.” Could J suggest that he have another look at press reports of my statements during the election campaign about this matter? He will find that on every occasion when J spoke about the National Party's policy plank on the purchase of older homes, 1 said that interest rates would not be lower than current ruling rates.—Yours etc, BERT WALKER, M.P. June 15, 1962.
Sir, —The electors of Buller know just how they have to vote. They knew the Labour policy of tax and more tax, the National policy of tax and more tax. They are six of one and a half-dozen of the other. They have a chance now to snow both parties who is the boss as there is a third party to vote for. When the numbers go up it is the votes that count, not £ s d.—Yours, etc, BY THE WAYSIDE. June 14, 1962.
