John Roberts
Sir—l wish most sincerely to pay a tribute to the everlasting memory of John Roberts, one of the greatest humanitarians of our time. He was over the last 50 years the champion of the oppressed and the under-dog. and at the same time ever gentle, ever courteous, ever a gentleman. No words of mine can ever do him enough praise. As our Maori friends would put it, “a great Totara has fallen.” John Roberts has folded his hands and quietly said “good bye.” Go in peace. John Roberts, you have earned your rest.— Yours, etc, R. DAVIS. June 15. 1962.
