Tenders To Be Called Soon (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. June 7. The Government has authorised tenders to be called for the construction of the first stage of the new Frans Josef Hotel. The initial section will provide accommodation for 70 persons at a choice of two tariffs. It js hoped to be ready for use in 1964. The Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Eyre), said today that the Tourist Hotel Corporation would be calling the tenders He hoped the first stage would be ready for use when the South Westland scenic route through the Haast Pass opened. Stage two would build up the ‘ hotel’s capacity to 120 guests, but this would depend on demand. Public rooms and amenities were designed to allow tor extension. he said.
