For the first time, the Halswell County Council .on Thursday considered an application for the installation of a private swimming pool. Clark) the application was refused. Rubbish Collection. The Halswell annual rubbish collection will be held late in May, subject to the date being suitable to the contractor Water Mains Laid.— Water mains and service connexions were put in Jarrow place, Cunningham place, nine chains in Ensign street, the east end of Wales street, and Oakridge street, the engineer (Mr M. J. Clark) reported Road Grades.— Until the National Roads Board makes a free grant for road works, the council will withdraw applications to have Michaels. Glovers, and Nicholl’s roads up-graded, but because of trouble on Dunbars road, it will ask to have this made class three. It also decided to ask to have Halswell Junction road made class one, although it joins the Akaroa State highway, a class two road.
