SIX-WEEKLY TESTS

Riccarton High School Move Third and fourth-form students at Riccarton High School will undergo tests every six weeks. Results of tests will be given to parents. The headmaster (Mr A. J. Gainsford) announced this to the school’s board of governors yesterday. ‘‘Examinations breaking as big bubbles in the middle and at the end of the year are unfair and bad educational practice,” Mr Gainsford said. Mr Gainsford showed the board a sample report form. It listed subjects and allowed for the class placing and assessments. It also allowed for attendance, times late, conduct, and the teachers’ general remarks. A carbon-copy of each form would be filed by the teacher, Mr Gainsford said.
