SUBURBAN BATHS

District Pool Planned

The general condition of the council-controlled swimming baths in Opawa, Sydenham, and Woolston was not of a high standard because of their age, the baths committee reported to the City Council last evening. As a result the committee had given preliminary consideration to the replacement of all three baths by a modem pool to serve the needs of the combined district.

Expenditure this year on the maintenance of the baths had been kept to a minimum, and the installation of a filtration ptant at the Opawa baths had not been proceeded with, the committee said. The council agreed with the committee that the £l5OO provided for the plant should be funded so that it could be used in whatever scheme was finally adopted.
