Surprise Defeat Of Mrs Tricker

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Feb. 14.

Mrs L. E. Tricker (Lower Hutt), a national fours titleholder, was surprisingly defeated in the New Zealand women's pairs championship at Hamilton today. She was beaten 23-11 in the first round of post-sec-tion play by Mrs T. Kirkham (Otahuhu). A fours semi-finalist, Mrs R. Ryan (Waharoa), also suffered defeat, going down to Mrs I. O’Connor (Te Awamutu), 23-18.

Last year’s .fours champion and winner of the pairs title in previous years. Mrs M. Nicol (Marewa), had a convincing 28-8 win over Mrs M. Hartley one of the unbeaten teams of the previous day. Four rounds will be played tomorrow.
