New Zealand’s left-hander. R. Charles, of Christchurch, had a good first practice round on the Royal Singapore Golf Club’s links here todav He score a two-under-par 71, to be one of the best in practice.

Naruwi. Indonesia’s professional golfer, shot a hole-in-one at the fifth (162 yards, par 3). In his practice round lie had a two-over-par 75. During today’s practice rounds most of the Australian professionals were reaching the par five holes in two strokes and numerous birdies were registered. Almost all the professionals praised the excellent conditions of the Singapore course. D. Welch, who finished second to his fellow Australian.. F. Phillips, in last year’s Singapore Open felt certain that R. Locke’s 12-year-old course record of 69 would be beaten.
