Athletics HALBERG’S RECORD

Application Not Made

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 14. The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has not applied to the International Federation for ratification of the two-mile world record of Bmin 30sec set by M. G. Halberg in Finland on July 8 The secretary, Mr C. I. W. Archibald, said today that New Zealand could not apply for ratification without all the necessary evidence of the record, including forms signed by the judges. To tfie best of his knowledge no such information had been received from Finland. and his association had assumed th ‘ Finland, as the country where the record was made, would furnish the necessary details to the International Federation and seek ratification. This had not been done.

A cabled report last night from Helsinki said the Finnish Athletics Federation had expected New Zealand to make the application. The I A.A F . which ratified a number of records in London on Friday, says no application was received from either Finland or New Zealand.
