Rubbish Collections
Sir, —I had greater success in appreciating the letter of now for Christmas” than the City Engineer. A small quantity of withered flowers placed in my regulation dustbin was carefully extracted and deposited at my gateway. A neighbour who in sweeping her driveway collected some grass trimmings which. also, reached her dustbin, was informed by a refuse collector, “You can't fool the dustmen, lady.” If the city fathers would come into land from some 35.000 feet, where endeavours continue to be directed towards outdoing New Zealand’s international airport project at Mangere. and would peruse and analyse the complaints files in the administrative office, the city of Christchurch might yet come into line with other towns in regard to footpaths, channelling, streets, public conveniences, and refuse-collecting.—Yours, etc., ANALYSIS.
