Worker In Goods

Shed Injured

A railway goods shed employee suffered head injuries when he was struck by several bales of sacks each weighing about four to five cwt. near No. 4 door of E goods shed, Waltham road about 3 30 p.m. yesterday. The injured man is Mr C. Clyne. of 52 Winton street. St. Albans. He was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital and admitted. His condition was described last evening as satisfactory. The vibration of engines and machinery is believed to have caused the bales to dislodge. About five bales fell several feet from the stack and other employees who saw the accident said that at least three of them struck Mr Clyne’s head. He was knocked unconscious, and suffered deep lacerations about the head. He was surrounded by the fallen bales Mr Clyne had regained consciousness by the time the ambulance arrived, but had lost a fair amount of blood.
