RECALL BY MOSCOW
Ambassador To Guinea (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CONAKRY (Guinea), Dec. 26 The Soviet Union had recalled its Ambassador to Guinea, because the Guinean Government had asked for his removal, unofficial source* said today, United Press International reported. However, Soviet sources said the Ambassador, Mr Daniel Solod, was recalled "for reassignment last week for an official mission.” The Russians said the recall resulted from Soviet Government instructions rather than orders from the Guinea Government. Official Guinean sources said a statement would be issued “soon” explaining the matter, according to United Press International. The Guinean Under-Secre-tary of State for Foreign Affairs, (Mr Alpha Diallo) visited Moscow on a special mission last week and conferred with the Soviet Prime Minister (Mr Khrushchev). Soon afterwards Mr Solod flew to Moscow. Unofficial sources said Mr Diallo had asked the Kremlin to recall Mr Solod permanently and the Soviet Government had agreed. Ship Aground.—The Japanese Maritime Safety Board said today the 8648-ton Greek freighter, Maria, had run onto rocks outside the port of Maizuru, north-western Japan. All 33 of the crew were safe.—Tokyo. December 26.
