Second Cruise Ship Due At Lyttelton Tomorrow
The second of the four cruise ships which are to visit Lyttelton during the present tourist season, the Seven Seas, is expected to arrive in port at 8 a.m. on Friday The smallest of the four ships, the Seven Seas carries about 500 passengers She is the only one which will make a return voyage to New Zealand. and will be in Lyttelton again on January 8. This has given the opportunity for a number of New Zealanders to join the ship to make an Australian cruise. Vacancies have been filled for several weeks. The Seven Seas will be in port until 6 p.m. on Friday. The Government Tourist Bureau has arranged three scenic excusions—two I&nd trips and one air trip—to beauty spots in Christchurch city and surrounding areas, for the tourists. Coaches will carry trippers on an eight-hour tour of the gorges of the Waimakarin and Ashley rivers and through Canterbury countryside. The air trip will give them the opportunity of flying over Mount Cook and the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers.
The third excursion takes the form of a half-day coach drive along the Summit road and through Christchurch suburbs. This leaves passengers with enough time for shopping or other sightseeing. The Seven Seas will be followed by the Stratheden. carrying about 1000 passengers. at 7 a.m. on Friday, December 29.
