CHRISTMAS PARTIES
Gold Star Mothers The Mayoress (Mrs G. Manning) cut the cake at the Christmas party of the Gold Star Mothers’ Club. The cake was presented by officers of the club. The president (Mrs E. Paterson) welcomed members and guests. Mrs E. McKenzie sang a solo and led the carol singing. Mrs E. Young presented the Mayoress with a shoulder spray and a sheaf of flowers. Fl.wers were also presented to Mrs E. Paterson and Mrs M. G. Scoff, who arranged the floral sheaves. A shoulder spray was presented to Mrs Young in appreciation of her work. Gaily-wrapped Christmas gifts were distributed. R.S.A. Women’s Mrs H. E. Packer and Miss A. L. Smith w-elcomed guests at a Christmas party held by the women’s section of the Returned Services’ Association at Jellicoe Hall. The guests included representatives from sister branches and artists who had entertained at meetings during the year. The programme, arranged by Mrs Clara Cogswell, was as follows: —Mesdames Kay Swallow, Eileen Williams, Cara Cogswell and Mr Gilbert Wyberg (vocal solos and duets); Mrs Doris Pashby (elocution items); Miss Nola Perfect (dances). The accompanist was Mrs Mabel Mason. Miss S. Brittan thanked the artists. Mothers’ Union The St. Philip’s Mothers’ Union held its Christmas party and entertained the women of the parish and representatives from local churches. A play, “The Christmas Spirt.” was produced by Mrs V. M. Wright, and presented by Mesdames Eatwell, Cooling, Rich, Manning, Rinaldi and Jenkins. Floral buttonholes were distributed and after afternoon tea senior girls from St. Margaret's choir sang carols. Mrs K Allison was accompanist.
