Tobacco Growers’ Chairman

• (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, Dec. 12. The president of the New Zealand Tobacco Growers’ Federation (Mr W. C. Wilis) stated that he wished to draw attention to a misunderstanding which arose at a meeting of the association’s Ward Four, Wakefield, on Wednesday last. The proposal to widen the growers’ representation on the board by the appointment of an independent chairman, was made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall), and not by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Hayman).
