Emu Hatched In Frying Pan

(N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Nov. 25 A Melbourne man has hatched an emu in an electric frying pan. Two months ago, Mr George Cox, while on a kangaroo hunt in New South Wales, spotted an amu nest. He was returning home that night, so he decided to take two of the big green eggs with bim. When he got home. Mr Cox bad the idea of keeping the eggs in an electric frying pan, to maintain an even temperature of 98 to 102 degrees. Two weeks later, out popped two little emus. One died, but the other thrived, spending the first week under an infra-red lamp, eating boiled eggs and lettuce. Now he has graduated to the back yard, where be lives on grass, bread and pellets. He will be taken to the Healesville sanctuary, about! 40 miles north of Melbourne, next week.
