CREEK POLLUTED BY CYANIDE

Treatment Formula Given Firm

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 14. The Health Department established today that a form a cyanide discharged from a factory in the Wairau valley caused the pollution of the Wairau creek, Takapuna. A formula to make the cyanide effluent harmless so it can continue to be discharged into the creek was given to the firm by Dr. F. H. King, industrial hygiene expert and Health Department consultant. The formula requires simple apparatus and the firm is installing it immediately. The pollution of the creek caused the destruction of numerous large eels.
