Elderly Man Killed
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PL.YM., Nov. 12. An elderly pensioner died in the New Plymouth Hospital on Saturday night several hours after he had been struck by a car at Okato. on the New PlymouthOpunake highway. He was Charles Eyre, aged 81, a widower, of Okato. The accident occurred at 8.10 p.m. A car driven by Mr Errold Atkinson Tiplady, of Inglewood, was travelling towards New Plymouth when it struck Mr Eyre. Rain had been falling heavily just before the accident and road conditions were very bad.
