Yawl Runs Aground

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. *29. Eight people fought high seas to try to prevent a 27ft yawl breaking up on Kohimarama Beach at first light yesterday. The yawl, the Naiad, owned by Mr W. D. Rush, of 49 Kohimarama road, Auckland, dragged her anchor at about 5 am. and ran aground about 200 yards off-shore. She rolled over on her side, filled with water, and was forced towards the sea wall by 6ft waves. Heavier anchors proved useless. When they realised the boat was at the mercy of the seas, Mr Rush and his helpers took all movable fixtures and gear ashore.
