Association’s Gifts

After the Canterbury Cricket Association's annual meeting last evening Mr T. A. Tucker presented travelling bags to the five Canterbury members of the New Zealand team which will leave next month for a tour of South Africa. They are M. E. Chapple. P. G. Z. Harris. G. T. Dowling. R. C. Motz and J. T. Ward. A bag was also presented to the manager. Mr J. G. Lcggat. To A. R. Taylor. Mr Tucker presented a mounted cricket ball. This was the ball with which Taylor took all 10 wickets in an innings when against Wsirarapa at Masterton in January. Mr Tucker also referred to the departure from Christchurch of Mr L Whatman, who has assisted the Canterbury representative squad in its physical training for several seasons. On behalf of the New Zealand Cricket Council's Board of Control. Mr J. L. Kerr presented Harris with the Redpath Cup, for the most meritorious batting in the 1960-61 season.
