Miss Howard Seeks Inquiry (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Sept. 21. A request that the Minister of Railways (Mr McAlpine) order an inquiry into happenings on Christchurchbound rail-cars was made in Parliament this afternoon by Miss M. B. Howard (Opposition, Sydenham). Miss Howard asked whether the Minister would inquire into “happenings or, the Christchurch-bound railcar on the last few Sundays by hooligans, culminating in a man falling from the railcar, being injured, and admitted to hospital.” “Women and children were terrified to go to the toilet." said Miss Howard. "The train crew did all they could, but could not control these hooligans.’’
Mr G. F. Sim (Government. Waikato): They want a good spanking. Miss Howard: That’s right.
