REPRESENTATIVE MATCH
Payne Trophy . At Stake
The Rugby match between Canterbury and Otago at Lancaster Park on Saturday will be for the Payne Trophy. The trophy match which formerly was played for between the two champion club teams of Dunedin and Christchurch was discontinued several years ago because representative committments did not allow the club teams to be at full strength. The game on Saturday will also be played under the proposed new hooking and lineout rules.
