T.E.A.L. Exhibition For New Zealand Schools

A travelling exhibition worth more than £lO,OOO and weighing five tons when (packed for transport is being 'prepared by Tasman Empire Airways, for display in schools throughout New Zealand. It is called “By air I tomorrow” and will suggest (the shape of things to come in civil aviation £n the next two decades. Education boards, intermediate schools, and postprimary schools will receive details of the exhibition this month but it is not yet known when it will come to the South Island.

The Education Department is giving its fullest support to

i the exhibition, as it is con--1 sidered to have great edttcai tional value in science and ! social studies. Displays will • include exhibits lent by leadi ing overseas aircraft manu- • facturers, control systems and - instruments. I The exhibition is designed > for erection in the typical t 80ft by 40ft school assembly halls where it is planned that . it will be seen by pupils, . teachers, parents and others , interested. For this reason it j is rated as both an educa- , tional amenity and a “draw , card” for school functions, parent-teacher association

meetings, and other groups centred on schools. The Education Department has co-operated with T.E.A.L. to provide the widest possible coverage of the whole country. The exhibition will be shown in about 70 schools and colleges in 40 centres in the next 12 months and it is hoped, by using strategic locations, that surrounding school* win be able to send parties of pupils, teachers and parents to the centre recommended by the department and thus reduce the effort of setting up the big exhibition in too many places. On the present itinerary it is expected most schools throughout the country will be able to take advantage of the scheme.
