Waipara. Scargill And Omihi (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Sept 19. Authorisation lias been given for work t» begin on the improvement of telephone services in the Wai para. Omihi and Scargill areas the Postmaster-Genera! (Mr Kinsella) informed Mr H. E. L. Pickering, member of Parliament for Hnrunul, tonight. Relief from the present congestion will be provided by four additional elreuita between Scargill and Waipera with rearrangemnts at Omihi. Mr Pickeringgsaid he felt sure this improvement to their service would be welcomed by farmers whose need for an efficient telephone service had increased in recent years in line with the growing intensity of fanning operations in North Canterbury. . “Nuclear-Safe” Jobs— More than 2000 Britons have rushed for 250 factory jobs which a firm says are “safe from nuclear bombs,” the "Daily Mirror" reported today.
