Athletics RATING OF N.Z. ATHLETES

Selectors May

Change Listings

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. New Zealand's Olympic and British Empire Games selectors now have the right to amend the order of merit listings of athletes selected by national bodies to represent their country. The right was granted at tonight's council meeting of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association, with the proviso that the order is altered only after consultation with the national body concerned. Previously, athletes were submitted to the selectors on an order of merit basis and, if the panel considered that a nominee was not up to standard, he and the athletes rated below him were automatically excluded. Mr C. L. S, Cross, himself a games selector, said the new ruling took care of “possible injustices.”
