HOTEL SITE AT FRANZ

Information Requested (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. Had a site been approved for the Franz Josef Hotel and when would tenders be called for its erection? Mr P. Blanchfleld (Oposition, Westland) asked the Minister of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Eyre) in the House of Representatives. He also asked whether it was intended to build a section of the hotel as soon as tenders had been accepted, rather than delay the project until the Haast Pass road was open. Mr Blanchfleld said that with the introduction of the Cook Strait ferry in 1962 “it is imperative that some accommodation be made available at Franz Josef as soon as possible.”
