Rugby COLTS’ MATCH AT ASHBURTON

Mid-Canterbury Overwhelmed Scoring at a rate of more than a point in two minutes the Canterbury Colts team squashed the Mid-Canterbury Colts, 45 points to 9 in a match at the Ashburton show grounds on Saturday afternoon. Throughout, the Canterbury pack outclassed and outplayed Mid-Canterbury in every aspect of the game. Mid-Canterbury did not look dangerous at any stage of the game. Canterbury scored 11 tries, six of which were converted, to Mid-Canterbury’s one try and two penalties. The Canterbury team's handling was excellent and it completely confused the Mid-Canterbury defence. For Canterbury tries were scored by W. Strange 3 W. J. Thompson 2. P. Hatchwell 2. F. Meyer, D. Wylie. T. McKendry and L. Price 1 each. A Harrison, the full-back, converted six of them. Mid-Canterbury’s points were scored from a try by M. Hanham and two penalties by D. Beckley.
