TRUST TO HELP CHILDREN

Hotel Proprietor’s Bequest A trust to assist children: suffering from any mental or physical handicap or disability, to be administered by the Church Property Trustees of the Diocese of Christchurch, is to be set up under the will of Mr Alfred William Wells, a retired hotel proprietor, who died at Christchurch on August 14. Mr Wells left an estate sworn for probate at under the value -of £65,000. His will provides for a life interest for his widow, and contains several private bequests. It then directs that the residue of his estate be held on trust during the life of his widow, or 21 years, or until his freehold property, the Masonic Hotel, is sold, whichever is the shortest period. His residuary estate, thereafter vested in the Church Property Trustees, is to be known as the Eva and Alfred William Weils Trust, and applied tn religious, educational, or other charit-, able purposes in the Diocese of Christchurch. Mr Wells, in his will, requests that the Church Property Trustees apply the income from the trust to assisting handicapped children and has given the trustees power to pay this income to the Social Services Council.
