Rangiora High School

Sir, —I am writing to correct an erroneous statement in your Wednesday issue. In describing the career of Mr M. K. Macleod, who has been appointed to a new sensor position in the Post Office at Dunedin as supervising engineer, it was stated that he obtained his education "at the old Rangiora District High School." There has never been a district high school in Rangiora. The Rangiora High School Act was passed in 1881 and the school grounds and buildings obtained so that the High School opened its doors on January 28, 1884, on the same site that it occupies today. Malcolm Macleod was a pupil at the Rangiora High School from 1933 to 1938 and later gained his B.Sc. degree at Canterbury College.—Yours, etc., J F. MOFFAT. Principal. Rangiora High School.
