N.Z. Horses To Race Today (A/.Z Press Assn.—Copyright! BRISBANE. June 2. Four New Zealand horses will make their 1961 Queensland debut at Qundamba racecourse ‘tomorrow. They are Waipari. Sol d’Or, Royal Filou, and Astronaut’s Flight. Waipari, Royal Filou, and Austronaut’s Flight will start in the six-furlong John Canty Stakes, the last open sprint before the £lO,OOO Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on June 10. The Stradbroke is the first leg of the Queensland Turf Club’s big winter double. Sol d’Or will start tomorrow in the Ipswich Cup. Waipari is top-weight in the Canty Stakes with 9-2. His condition is excellent, and the Sydney jockey. T. Hill, who has flown to Brisbane to ride him, is confident he will go well. Waipari has 8-12 in the Stradbroke. His trainer. J. Wickliff, said today that Waipari was a definite starter in the Stradbroke. Royal Filou has 7-7 in the Canty Stakes, and 7-3 in the Stradbroke. He is at an outside quote for both races. Astronaut’s Flight’s chances are not taken seriously. Sol d’Or did not impress in his early workouts, but is coming to hand quickly. He has 8-4 in the Canty Stakes. 7-11 in the Stradbroke. and 8-1 in the Brisbane Cup. which will be run over two miles at Eagle Farm on June 12.
