Concern Of Church

(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, May 18. “The church is concerned that changes of Government alone will not make the tremendously important matter of capital punishment merely a political issue," said the Moderator of the New Zealand General Assemblv. the Right Rev. J. S. Somerville, of Wellington, who is visiting Gisborne. “Opposing capital punishment as it does, the Church would like to see an adequate period of years go by without the death penalty being inflicted in order to avoid the uncertainty which exists on this jssue, “We hope the present administration will use the discretion given it by law in order to make this possible.”
