Picton Freed
The coastal vessel Picton was refloated last evening after being aground near the mouth of the Waimakariri river for nearly a week. About 7.30 p.m. two bulldozers, pulling on lines run out from both banks, freed the vessel.
After being refloated, the Picton was moored near the Waimakariri Power Boat Club’s boatshed. As soon as bar conditions permit she will be towed to Lyttelton, where her rudder and propellers will be repaired.
