EXPERIMENTAL IRRIGATION
Progress League’s Scheme
Canterbury county councils will be approached by the Canterbury Progress League to find whether they have water available for experimental irrigation farms. This was decided by the council of the league after hearing a report from the convener of the league’s land development, forestry, and irrigation committee (Mr H. H. Deans>. Mr Deans said that it was known that there was water suitable for stock available in Canterbury, and his committee was considering a scheme of experimental irrigation farms in different areas in Canterbury to see what could be done. Mr A. Buckingham said that much Was already known on the availability of water, and that the Rangiora High School had records. The league decided to get whatever information was available and later to write to the county councils.
