COUNTRY AND TOWN

Inter-Dependence Stressed (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 19. The mutual dependence of town and country dwellers was stressed by the ActingPrime Minister (Mr Marshall) when he opened the Auckland Easter show on Saturday afternoon. “We should not only have an appreciation of what is being done by both the farmers and the manufacturers, but we must realise that only by working together in town and country that this country of ours can prosper,” he said. People in the towns depended to a large extent on the farmers to maintain our high standard of living. On the other hand everyone would be depending more and more on the manufacturers. Young people Would be looking in increasing numbers to commerce and industry for jobs. People should think well of the manufacturers, and also of those who provided the capital which made these manufacturing industries possible, said Mr Marshall, “By supporting them, people will, as well as helping them and ourselves, also help New Zealand.”
