OUT OF HOURS VISITS
Commission’s Calls In Christchurch
The Commission of Education has been busy outside the daylight hours of its public hearings in Christchurch. There was a closed session on Monday evening. There have been informal discussions at an evening reception given by the Canterbury Education Board, another evening spent a* the Christchurch Teachers’ College, and late yesterday afternoon members saw the organisation of the largelydecentralised new South Island office of the Education Department. Later yesterday the commission watched evening classes at the Christchurch Technical College. Today the commission will split into groups to visit a primary school, an intermediate school, a normal school, and girls’ and boys’ high schools. Similar schools and other types are being visited in other centres and special visits will be made to Maori schools.
