HUTT PARK DOUBLE

Stablemates Succeed Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. The Yaldhurst trainer, N. L. Berkett, won the double on the opening night of the Otaki Trotting Club’s annual meeting at the Hutt Park Raceway on Saturday night. Scottish Light led all the way to win the Otaki Trotting Cup and Happy Hunting led on the last round to win the Horowhenua Handicap. Both horses were favourite and they paid £5 Ils 6d for £1 on the double. Scottish Light, a four-year-old by Light Brigade from Bonny Scott, which started racing only in December, had won in his three previous appearances. He had little difficulty in preserving his unbeaten record, racing about three lengths clear of the field over the concluding three furlongs and winning by that margin from Keith and Cavan. The second favourite Ballista struck trouble at the start when Storm Crest bored out and crowded the horses outside him. Cushie Doo was another to suffer. Happy Hunting, which had won at. his previous start at Hororata, was much too good for the field in the second leg. Rain threatened throughout the evening, but very little fell. The track was fast. The attendance was 5229. On-course investments amounted to £41,632 15s. There was no corresponding meeting last year. When the club last raced at Otaki in November. 1959, the turnover was £14,762 10s. Results:— FRANK SHAW HANDICAP, Of £225; trotters; 3min 37sec class; one mile and a half. 3/3 PRIMASTELLA (9) 60 P.
