AUSTRALIAN HORSES
Easy Runs At Addington Three of the visiting Australian horses had their first hoppled work since their arrival in Christchurch at Addington yesterday morning. None of them was after time and. with the exception of Furtive, they hit out quite freely. Maestro’s Melody and Three Aces worked quietly over two miles, while First Kiss and Furtive went over two miles and a half. Maestro's Melody and Furtive were driven by their trainer, F. Shinn, a recent arrival in Christchurch. Shinn, who trains a team of 10 horses at Bankstown, just outside Sydney, is one of three brothers who train and drive. The other two have their headquarters in Adelaide. Shinn has travelled extensively between Sydney and Melbourne this season and he has raced his team with considerable success. Furtive has been his best winner, his most important success being in the Spring Cup at Melbourne in November. Kiwi Dillon and Sultana were jogged late in the day on the small training track at Addington. Sultana is making a slow recovery from her long trip, her progress being affected by the cold weather.
