CADIZ OUT OF RAILWAY
"The Press" Special Service AUCKAND, December 27. The Riccarton visitor. Cadiz, which has been freely discussed in connexion with the Railway Handicap, the big sprint at Ellerslie on Monday and second leg of the cup double, will not contest the race. His trainer, J. C. Tomkinson, explained today that his intention all along was to make Cadiz's main mission at the meeting the King’s Plate, weight-for-age, a mile, -which is also run on cup day. All going well, Cadiz would then compete at the Wellington summer meeting. Cadiz, and his stablemate. Braganza, were among the horses which did light work at Ellerslie this morning. Yesterday Braganza spoilt his chance in the Christmas Handicap by hanging at the turn into the straight. The outing did not harm him and he looks well prepared for tomorrow’s Summer Cup.
