Obituary MR JUSTICE CHRISTIE
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 27. Mr Justice James Christie, who was Parliamentary Law Draftsman for 20 years, and later a Supreme Court Judge, died in Wellington last night, aged 80. After graduating master of law, he became a pupil secondary schoolteacher. He was a cadet in the Treasury Department in 1901, joined the Crown Law Office three years later, and entered the Law Drafting Office in 1907. Appointed Parliamentary Law Draftsman in 1908, he held that position until his retirement in 1938, Mr Justice Christie was appointed a temporary Supreme Court Judge in 1947 and retired two years later. He is survived by his wife and a son and daughter of an earlier marriage.
