Motor-Cycle Clubs
Sir, —A plea for the motorcyclists’ clubs, which are asking a P erm it to run miniature T.T. motor cycle races on a Sunday afternoon. I mention the Kaiapoi club which runs two or three meetings a year. The clubs do not make a nuisance of themselves; they get well away from the town, in a farmer’s paddock. They get nofinancial gain, are good sports, and really enjoy themselves, and as the sayuig is, they ride for peanuts. The public enjoy every minute of the racing, as many as 2000 and 300 go to see the boys ride. I noticed tha tthe Eyre County Council, at its last meeting, refused a permit to the Kaiapoi club. Not all the members are against a permit. I hope those councillors who are in favour of ?? wil persuade the council at its next meeting to grant a permit t othe Kaiapoi club.— Yours, etc., F. MERRIN. East Eyreton, November 24, 1960.
