Labour Candidate Chosen (New Zealand Press Association) WHAKATANE August 1. Mr T. G. Santon, a Taneatua fanner, has been chosen as the Labour Party candidate for the Bay of Plenty electorate at the General Election. This will be the sixth time he has contested the seat Though he has been unsuccessful five times, he has reduced the National Party majority every time. In November, 1957, Mr Santon polled’ 864 votes fewer than Mr P. G. Allen (National Party).
