Amberley B And Cheviot To Meet The two teams, Amberley B and Cheviot, to meet in the final playoff at Amuri on August 14 for the Templeton Cup, conducted by the North Canterbury inter-club match committee, qualified after a count-back of the season’s games. Cheviot tied with Kaikoura A in the northern zone, and Rangiora tied with Amberley B in the southern zone. When the final zonal games were decided yesterday, the match between the joint leaders of the northern zone, Cheviot and Kaikoura A, was halved, 4-all. On the count-back of the season’s games, Cheviot was declared the winner of the northern section by 31J points to 30J. Before yesterday’s games Amberley B and Rangiora shared the lead and both won their final games, giving them five competition points each. Amberley B won the. series on the count-back, by 36 games to 32 J. Results:— Cheviot v. Kaikoura M. Childs beat M. Trolove, 8 and 6; L. Davies beat J. G. Latter, 3 and 2; J. Wade halved with G. Haldane; R. Winskill lost to A. Trolove, 3 and 2; R. Webb lost to T. Western, 3 and 2; R. Harrison beat J. E. Goold, 7 and 6; C. McAuliffe halved with J. D. Reid; W. Gutzewitz lost to W. Walsh. 1 up. The match, which was played at Cheviot, was halved, four games each. Hanmer v. Cuiverden A. V. Beattie lost to A. Farquhar, 2 and 1; F. P. Farrow beat H. Fletcher, 3 and 2; T. W. Harrison beat H.
