Y.W.C.A. HOSTELS Riverlaw To Be
Sold The _need for the centralising of Y.W.C.A. Hostels was discussed at a meeting of the Y.W.C.A. board of directors in Christchurch. The distance of the Riverlaw hostel from the girls’ work and from the Y.W.C.A. clubs was a great drawback. Steps were being taken to sell the property by auction, and to establish a fund for a modern residential club, which is to be built as soon as possible. Miss G. Riddle, who has been acting as matron of Riverlaw since May, reported that satisfactory arrangements were being made for accommodating the girls and that many offers of private board had been received. Mrs O. Mitchell presided at the meeting.
A mannequin parade to be held early next month has been arranged by members of the Young Business Girls’ ' Club of the Y.W.C.A. Proceeds will go to the World Fellowship Fund. Another “Stay at Home” camp is scheduled for August This will be held from August 22 to August 26.
Also reported at the meeting was a contribution from residents of Latimer Hostel which will be sent through C.0.R.5.0. to the World Refugee Fund. The donation was £lO.
