Ice-Skating Broadcasts

Sir,—Would it be possible to have the ice report broadcast at 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.? If this were done it would enable those wishing to travel to Lake Ida by bus more time to prepare a lunch and travel to the bus station. Several times this year a lunch' has been prepared early to find at 7 a.m. that ice conditions at Lake Ida did not allow skating.—Yours, etc., ICE SKATER. July 26, 1960. [The district manager of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service (Mr J. F. Skedden) replies: “The ice report is broadcast by arrangement with the authorities in charge of ice skating. It is left as late as possible to ensure the likelihood of conditions being the same when people arrive at the lakes as they were when the report was broadcast.]
