POLICE DOG HANDLER

Resignation Of Constable Constable W. J. Stickings, of the Christchurch Central Police Station, whose special duty in the last three years has been handler of the police dog Ace, has resigned from the Police Force. Ace has been sent to the Police Training School at Trentham with Constable A. E. Arnold, also stationed in Christchurch, who will be the dog's handler in future. Superintendent E. J. C. Hay said yesterday that it would be a month before Ace and Constable Arnold were back in Christchurch. The constable had to learn the police methods of dog handling. and Ace had to accustom himself to his new master. Buck, the police dog which is handled by Constable L. J. Petersen, is still on duty in Christchurch. Constable Stickings . joined the Police Force in 1956 and was stationed in Christchurch for the whole of his service.
