CURRENT NOTES
Cooktali Party.—About 65 delegates attending the 15th conference of the New Zealand Association of Bacteriologists in Christchurch were entertained last evening at an informal cocktail party at the Palm Lounge. Members of the organising committee were:—Misses Gwen Collyer. Sybil Sinclair, Caroline Curtis, Messrs J. A. Walker, F. N. Corey, Canterbury Women’s Club.— The music circle of the Canterbury Women’s Club recently held a musical afternoon. The president (Mrs C. Shaw) welcomed the following guest artists: M®»* dames A, Bennie, A. Ledsham. J. Graham, Gee and Miss Romola Missionary Market.—Returns to the Melanesian Mission office from the recent missionary market amounted to £220. From this sum £5O has been allocated to the new cathedral at Honiara, Solomon Islands, £5O towards equipment for the Bev. Walter Robinson’s work at Labasa, Fiji, £lOO to the Sisters of the Community of the Sacred Name towards the maintenance of Tongan girls in training as missionaries for Melanesia and Polynesia/ The balance will go,into general funds of the mission. o.
