Restriction Powers Sought Power for county councils to impose a 30 miles an hour speed restriction on any road within county towns will be sought by the Counties’ Association. Moving a remit at yesterday’s conference Mr A. J. Stevens (Waitemata) said many county towns had larger populations than

boroughs yet did not have the same authority. Every local authority had to exercise caution in imposing speed restrictions, said Mr D. J. Lambie (Manukau). A blanketcover of a town was not proposed.

“It is a clear-cut issue,” remarked the chairman (Mr A. H. Hanse.i).
